Web Site Filled with Fun Ideas for Kids

creative activities for children, from author and mom, Sharla Feldscher

I love it when people send me links to kid-friendly stuff to do on the Web. Philadephia-based PR executive, author of several kid activity books, New York Family Magazine columnist, humanitarian and mom and grandmother extraordinaire, Sharla Feldscher, created her KidFun Web site to encourage creative play for Web-literate kids. She is the author of six books on creative activities for kids, including the KidFun activity book, published by Harper Collins. Her books have been translated internationally, and she is now authoring her KidFun column for New York Family Magazine ...

Happy June!

This is it, Macaroni families! June is here, and pretty soon, our little munchkins will be out of school--heading off to summer camp, hanging out in the playgrounds or sitting around the apartment with Nintendos and Leapsters, complaining about being bored. I face the summer holidays with a mixture of anticipation and (yes, I'm guilty) a bit of dread. I look forward to family trips to amusement parks, beaches and festivals, but I always feel a bit panicky about the idea of having to keep my kids entertained, sunblocked ...

There are sparkly, audience-bound BUBBLES, cute day-glo fishie puppets, funny songs that ...

The Problem with Pluto

The Discovery, the Debate, the Science

I can't tell you how many times my nine year-old has challenged the Pluto planet demotion, folks. He simply refuses to believe that his favorite little planet could lose its planetary distinction and insists that the science is just plain WRONG where Pluto is concerned. If your kid is into astronomy or is equally confounded by how a planet can lose its title, he will love this event at the New York Public Library. Thanks to Jason Kendall, Director of the Inwood Astronomy Project for this event:
