Finding it too hot outside to go on long day adventures? Try this, choose your own adventure fairytale book released a few months ago. I recommend this book for older kids and with caution that the adventures can take some dark twists. Of seventeen endings, there are seven good endings, three neutral and seven tragic. I read this with my four-year-old and filtered some of the storylines along the way. She was unaware of this and enjoyed choosing all the paths and going back again and again (and again) to try new options.
The main character, Rosie, is given the task of carrying some sweets to her Granny. Along the way she encounters Jack, Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, as well as the wolf, witch, goose and a hunter. Your first choice is what coat to wear and you will be on your way to an adventure filled with fairy tale encounters, hungry wolves and evil witches. You may be helped by a kind huntsman or stumble upon seven grieving men. There are several moments to be heroic and help fellow characters. Some choices present a wise option and others may lead you to disastrous consequences.
However you proceed, these ever-changing adventures will lead you to new discoveries. If you go through these adventures and find out you want more, let me suggest a discovery walk to the Alice and Wonderland statue for little ones. Into The Woods is also back on broadway for a limited time that would be great for your kids 9 and older.
